Family Favorites: May - Working Mom Magic

Hope everyone had a wonderful month! May seemed to fly by, but we have tons of family birthdays this month and once you throw Mother’s Day into the mix… things start getting crazy!

Here’s our family favorites this month!

Lauren: Red Lipstick
After a life full of nude and rose glosses, I have finally realized the amazing-ness that is a bold colored lip. Specifically a RED LIP! It all started around the holidays, when I went to Sephora where they were doing ‘Holiday Lip Makeovers” or something like that. I walked out with the first red lipstick I ever bought. In my life. And this was no timid tint or gloss. It was a fire engine red matte lip stain. I rocked it at my best friends Bachelorette party that month, and I haven’t looked back.

I recently expanded my red lipstick collection, buying MAC’s Ruby Woo (apparently this is the holy grail of red lipsticks, for good reason) & MAC’s Viva Glam 1. I love this color so much I have started wearing it during the day. Even to work. Just a light layer with a bit of lip balm over it and I am good to go. When I want a subtle red, Almay’s Liquid Lip Balm in Apple A Day. I don’t know what I was afraid of for so long, but if your lips were like mine.. living a life in the shadows with muted shades and clear glosses, give a bold lip a go!

Hudson: Blue Hopping Horse
He got this horse YEARS ago and never really played with it. But Disney Junior’s Sheriff Callie’s Wild West is a hot show in our house right now. Hudson and I love to sing the show’s opening song. At random moments. All. The. Time. Hudson has even starting talking with a southern drawl. The horse had been in the garage, but it recently earned its way back inside, and has been renamed ‘Sparky’. (the same as Sheriff Callie’s blue horse) So now ‘Sparky’ & Sheriff Hudson bounce all around the house, it eats dinner with us perched on the floor next to Hudson’s chair, and has a comfy new spot in his bed every night. Living the life until a new favorite toy rolls around.

Mila: Baby Doll with Crib
Mila got this as a gift this month from her Grandma and Papa. Grandma had read my post about her not having any dolls, and apparently it stuck with her! Now this is one of her favorite dolls! She walks around with it everywhere. She loves putting her inside a little doll stroller and going for a stroll outside. She also really likes the crib, and puts ton of toys inside it along with the baby. Thank you Grandma & Papa!

Donnie: Quicksilver Swim Trunks
My husband never buys new clothes. Ever. He hates shopping. But since he lost about 20 pounds he desperately needed new stuff. Out of everything he got, his new swim trunks are his favorite. (& mine too… hubba, hubba!) It has been at least 7 or 8 years since he got new swim shorts, so he really needed new ones. We got them at the Quicksilver outlet in the Sawgrass Mills Mall for 30 bucks. He’s already worn them a ton and gotten plenty of compliments! And he looks super hot in them. Bonus.
