Family Favorites: April

                                           

I thought it would be fun to start a monthly post highlighting our family’s current favorite things. We are a busy bunch with a variety of interests and hobbies, so maybe you will find something new here that could one day be your new family favorite!

Right now old navy has TONS of cute dresses. I started with a black sheath-style dress. I got so many compliments on it when I wore it to work that I went back and bought 3 MORE dresses. (Two more of the exact same style for $15 each then a eyelet style with a similar fit for $25) They are super-comfy and versatile. You can wear them with flats or heels, and since they are so simple you can have fun with accessories. I wish they made these in more colors, since I already bought them all. (except the pink one, because I don’t care if I look like a million bucks in it or not, I just can’t do pink. I can’t.) 

I have no problem cutting my family out of a pic when I have my ‘skinny arm’ move going. That’s just how I roll.

My hubby LOVES popcorn. It is his favorite snack. Specifically, Black Jewel popcorn. Black Jewel are black kernels that pop up smaller than regular popcorn. It is also super hard to find (especially lately) so we have to special order it. Yes. Special order popcorn. Anyway, for as long as we have been together he always pops it in a big pot or with his old school whirly pop.. But to make it that way you need to use a good amount of olive oil. Since we have both been counting calories and eating better, he finally caved and decided to buy an air popper. We got this one from Presto through Amazon for $20. We actually LOVE it! (and no one was more surprised than Donnie) The butter tastes better on it this way, since it isn’t mixed in with the olive oil flavor.

Seriously, how cute is my hubby?? Love him!

Hudson: Lego Mixels
My 5 year old is obsessed with Lego Mixels. They are little creatures you build with Legos. If you get three figures in the same collection you can use them to build a super Mixel. We only have one from each collection right now so we haven’t done that, but I am sure it is only a matter of time.  According to Hudson, lots of kids in his class have these toys & they have been pretending they are Mixels on the playground lately. All of his school art work is now drawings of Mixels! (Pablo even claims to have a “blue water Mixel” that Hudson CONSTANTLY talks about… however, I have searched the Lego website and as far as I can tell, such a Mixel does not exist… so Pablo you are a liar. And you are also 5 years old. SO I will let this one go… for now) There is even a Mixel app that Hudson wanted so badly he was willing to pay me 4 bucks of his own money to get it. (I was not about to pay $3.99 for an app) I don’t know what this app does exactly, but Hudson says it’s a quote “awesome game” that is “super easy.”

                               

Mila: Around the Farm Book
My one year old is all about animals right now. She has a few animal books, but this Eric Carle Around the Farm: Play-a-Sound is by far her favorite at the moment. It was a birthday gift & it is awesome. It makes 30 animal sounds, and has illustrations to go along with each one. When you push the button it says the name of the animal then the sound that animal makes. Every time she plays with it she laughs and smiles non-stop. Her current favorite buttons to push are the cat and the sheep.
