Making Yourself a Priority

They say you get wiser with age and I definitely think that is true. I celebrated my birthday this month and at 38, I feel happier than I have ever been. The secret for me is the simple fact that I am finally getting better at making myself a priority, when possible. I am reading more than I ever have, making time for events with friends and my husband and allowing myself to live in the present moment with my kids. I am learning more about myself and the things that I enjoy.

For my birthday this year, I treated myself to a personal trainer. My workouts have been slack lately and I needed some motivation, so I decided to take action. I just started and it is still pretty new, but so far I am loving it. It makes me go to the gym at least twice a week and my trainer is awesome. Some days it is hard to wake up extra early to meet him at the gym, but I am always happier after I do.

But once that early workout is over, I still have a lot to do at home to get the kids ready for school and out the door. So I have been loving quick breakfasts, like Dannon’s Light and Fit yogurt drinks. With 9 grams of protein and only 90 calories, is is the perfect way to refuel fast. I also like that it has no added sugar. You can grab a 4-pack at Walmart and get an extra $1 off with the Ibotta app. Bonus!

So think about something that you could do for yourself today. Carve out some time to do something that you enjoy. It doesn’t have to be extravagant (but it can be!) just make sure you do it. Take your priority list and put your name on top. You deserve it.

I definitely could use some more “me time”! Sometimes it slips away with the business of life. Love your outlook!

Yes, exercise is key to staying healthy and feeling less stress. It’s all about balancing all the things we need in life!

You are right. Moms forget to care for themselves.

My child is young so I understand that I cannot do EVERYTHING I wish to do in this season of life. So, I find small things to treat myself too. An occasional ‘moms night out’ doesn’t hurt either 🙂

It’s all too easy as a mom to forget to take care of yourself, so this is such a great reminder! Thank you!

Great reminder! And I’ll look for those yogurt drinks. Me and my family love the Chobani ones.
