November Family Favorites

November was another busy one! My best friend got married, I had my 10 year wedding anniversary, and we went on our first trip away without the kids! I also enjoyed lots of family time during the long Thanksgiving weekend. So here is what my family is LOVING this month.

Lauren:
Clipless Curling Iron
I have had this Clipless Curling Ironfor well over a year, but every time I would try to use it, I just couldn’t get the look I wanted. Well, thanks to the magic of YouTube (and my Intel Tablet) I finally know how to use this thing! And I am obsessed. I have been rocking bouncy, curly hair wherever I go. At almost every event I went to this month, I wore it curly.  I have even been wearing it to work that way, since I actually find it is faster to curl my hair. (instead of using my straightener)

Donnie:
Garbage Pail Kids
My father-in-law gave my husband a huge box of his old trading cards, which included a MASSIVE collection of Garbage Pail Kids. We spent a whole afternoon looking at all the cards. Hudson had never seen them and he was dying laughing. They still sell these things!! We saw some at Target when Hudson and I were looking for Pokemon cards (which you will read about shortly) and he was like, “Look Mom! Dad’s Garbage Pail Kids!!” He also had a bunch of Star Wars trading cards, it’s so much fun to see what we collected as kids!

Hudson:
Pokemon Cards
This is a fairly new obsession in my house. Hudson began asking for Pokemon cards when his friends started trading them at school. A few kids actually gave him some, just so he could participate in the trading fun. (how sweet is that?) I told him I would take him to buy a pack since he did good on his report card. Then he collected every dime he had and managed to buy two more packs on his own. Apparently the cards are used for some type of game, but Hudson and his friends have no idea how to play. They just trade cards and talk about the ‘power level’ each one has.

Mila:
Minnie Mouse
Miss Mila is in LOVE with Minnie. She asks for Minnie all the time. We have a few Minnie dolls, and there is one that she carries around all the time. We have a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on the DVR that is the Minnie Pet Show episode… and she always is asking to watch it. Another huge development from this new found Minnie love, is that now Mila likes BOWS! (thank you, Minnie’s Bowtique) I have DOZENS of hair bows, but she would always rip them out. Now she ASKS for bows… and keeps them in her hair ALL DAY. It’s amazing, really. She is always pointing on the bow on her little Minnie doll… and says, “Bow”… then she will point to her own bow and smile. It’s seriously so cute.

Thank you!! Yeah you have to wear a heat protector glove and everything, but it is the only thing that has ever worked on my hair, it would never hold a curl before.

GIRL. Can I just tell you that the Pokemon obsession in this household is so real. Ayden has all of his in a binder with the baseball card sheet protectors and trades with the neighborhood boys. They are literally the ONLY thing he has mentioned that he wants for Christmas from EVERYone, lol!

Boys and their collectible cards! My son is almost 25, and he has baseball & football cards that belonged to his grandpa (as well as ones he collected himself). He used to have a ton of Pokemon cards, but he gave those to his younger cousin. Thanks so much for sharing & linking up at #SoMe2 this week – hope to see you again next week!

I can't wait to try the clipless tutorial! So awesome you two got away sans kids. My daughter is also quite taken with Minnie. Funny, I never was. My brother definitely loved Pokemon cards, though. Right now, my kids are obsessed with anything to do with Santa. We need to find him immediately at the mall, get close enough to wave, but not too close. We talk about Santa. Read stories about Santa…

I am def going to save some of my son's cards now… since watching my husband explain his cards to my son was just too sweet. Maybe he will get that opportunity to do that same thing! Have a great weekend!

Am loving your hair! So pretty! Also, love how the shots with your little one are a bit blurred because little ones never stop moving. All our pictures turn out the same way, fuzzy hands or fuzzy feet. Mickey is a big deal here too, Minnie and him never go out of style 🙂

I think I'm going to add the curler thing to my Amazon list. I love wearing my hair curly. I found a book of Garbage Pail kids not long ago, so crazy how much my siblings and I loved them. Haha! I'm sure my daughter will get a kick out of them very soon. As always, Mila is so adorable! I wonder if Minnie will help my daughter hop on the bow-wearing train!

This is the only curler I have ever used that will actually give my hair a curl that stays. there are a bunch of different brands out there, I got this one cause it was super cheap and I didnt know if I would like it. I may buy another fancier one soon, but right now this one works great! And trust me, there is bow hope. Mila wouldn't TOUCH them and now she asks for bows. It makes me so happy! 😉

Lauren I love this post so much. And I am have something to say about each of you. I totally love your curls. They look so great on you. Also can you teach me how to curl my hair quickly? 😀 The card collection you guys received, is a wonderful thing. Doesn't it feel like you r time travelling and when you look at those cards, you get a glimpse of that era. And how cute it is that Hudson and his friends don't know how to play with those cards but like to trade it (I was obsessed with pokemons too). Mila's bow fascination is so cute. Reminds me of my daughter except that she is running in opposite direction. She does not like it when I try to tie her hair. May be someday she will understand the reason of tons of knots in her hair and start letting me tie them 🙂

Yes.. it is super fast to do, i just curl big chunks. 🙂 I love how him and his friends share and try to make everyone feel involved.. and dont give up on baby girl just yet.. I thought Mila would NEVER like bows. 🙂
