Time for another family favorites book post! One problem, I haven’t picked up my Kindle all month. My book club vote ended up being some ‘steamy’ beach read, and I just wasn’t interested. I started a Gillian Flynn book since I loved Gone Girl, but after a few chapters I called it quits.
So hopefully I will find something good to read for July, and if you have any suggestions, please please comment because I am really craving a good book!
Luckily, my children are book obsessed, so I will always at least have TWO options on this monthly post.
Hudson:
LEGO: The Movie book
We got this from the library, after putting ourselves on the wait list during our library scavenger hunt.
Hudson has not seen the Lego Movie, but he sure does love the book. It is full of tons of fun stories, explaining the characters and different scenes from the movie. We just pick a chunk to read together each night, and then he always ends up staying up WAY to late looking through the pages himself. He has already told me (about 427 times) that he does NOT want to return this book. It is due back this weekend… wish me luck.

Mila:
Andy Warhol’s Colors
At 16 months, Mila is very much into animal sounds. Right now she can’t get enough of this book, since she loves to bark, meow, and moo. There is also a lion, which is a bonus, since Mila has a mean roar. The book is so bright, that we usually talk about the colors on each page as well. (when you are reading the book 10 times in a row, you are inclined to get creative!)

Since I suck and don’t have anything to contribute to this post, I thought I would fancy it up with a GIVEAWAY!
I was thrilled when Connie Bowen, a children’s book author who likes to focus on positive affirmations, offered to send over a book and sponsor a giveaway. I am a huge fan of POSITIVE thinking and I think it makes a big difference on your outlook.

Her latest book titled, “I Create My World” is a beautifuly illustrated story with little sayings. Hudson enjoyed it since each page only had one sentence on it, so he could practice reading and sounding out words. We also had fun making up stories for the pictures. The book may be a TAD mature for a 5 year old, since he kept asking me what everything meant. For example, one page says “I am thankful for the bounty of the universe.” Then I had to explain what bounty meant. (but learning new words is a great thing)
Connie is giving away one of her books to my readers! I will announce the winner a week from today! Good Luck!
Also… what are some books your family is loving this month?
Great post! Will have to check out the colors book for Maddie. In the meantime,I'll search my recent reads for a good book for you! Thanks for sharing 🙂
She will love it! And yes… keep me posted on any good reads! 🙂
Books for kids are always a win win! Love the suggestions!
Thanks Aubrey!
Guess I'll be heading to the store for that Lego Movie book… 😉
For real. Pick up an extra one for me, since my son is going have a major breakdown this weekend when I try to sneak it back!
