I am a big supporter of buying local. Its why I am always on the lookout for creative homemade gifts and why I love going to local farmer’s markets.
So when a friend and co-worker of mine started talking to me about a local couple who is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to grow their dessert business, I was super interested.

Paleo Bakehouse was founded in early 2012 by Bryan and Joselyne, high school sweethearts with a passion for the Paleo lifestyle, clean eating, Crossfit, and of course, each other. They realized they couldn’t find anything to satisfy their sweet tooth, while sticking to their strict Paleo diet, so Joselyne started baking her own.
I am not Paleo, but I am always trying to eat clean, so when they gave me some treats to try, I was excited… and if we are being honest here, hesitant. I really like desserts. I don’t want a cookie that tastes healthy. I want it to taste delicious and decadent. (and if it pairs well with my wine, even better)
I am happy to say Paleo Bakehouse did not disappoint. I tried out the Amazing Almond cookies and the Power Brownie Cookie. They were both delish, but the cookies were my favorite. I ate two in one sitting. They are so sweet and chewy and just plain yum. They remind me of a peanut butter cookie, but they are made with almond butter. (a major weakness of mine)
Now while I may not always be the easiest to please, the ultimate test was my kids. If you REALLY want to know if a dessert is good, just give it to a 5 and 1 year old. My son couldn’t wait to dig in and while he liked them both… the brownies really were the star in his world. Mila preferred the cookies. (she’s a momma’s girl!)

All of the treats have 10 ingredients or less, and are made without preservatives. I really hope this company gets the cash they need to move to a commercial kitchen, because we definitely need more healthy options out there that aren’t full of artificial junk and chemicals!
