Make Summer Memorable with a Staycation

Thanks to Enterprise Rent-a-Car for sponsoring this post, opinions are 100% my own.

Summer is just about here and I can’t wait to make memories with my family and friends! My kids have some awesome summer camps lined up and I am ready for daily dips in the pool after work. This will be my first summer ever as an adult where I won’t have to worry about working on holidays or being called in on the weekend for breaking news. But that doesn’t mean I will be completely work-free on the weekends, and it turns out I am not alone!

According to a new survey commissioned by Enterprise, nearly seven out of 10 individuals work at least one weekend per month. And when they do work over a weekend, they put in the equivalent of a full day – an average of nearly nine hours. What’s more, nearly two-thirds of those surveyed (63%) said their employers expect them to work over the weekend, and 61 percent said they have a hard time not thinking about work over the weekend.

Shutting off completely once the weekend hits can be difficult, but many of these same people surveyed said: “exploring new places”, “getting out of town” and “more weekend trips” helped them feel happier and less stressed.

Road Trip!!

I am a huge fan of staycations, which is when you stay close to home but still feel like you are on a vacation. To celebrate my recent change in careers, my family and I packed up and headed to one of our favorite staycation spots about 2 hours away. There is something about being in a new environment, and in walking distance to the beach, that makes me feel like I don’t have a care in the world! We had such a great time and made some awesome memories!

If you are thinking about taking a quick road trip to explore around your area or a weekend getaway in a nearby town, you may want to consider renting a car from Enterprise. You don’t have to put extra miles on your own car and you can select the perfect ride to match what you are doing! If you have lots of driving with kids, grab a minivan with a fancy DVD player built-in! Weekend with your honey at the beach? Go for the convertible!

Why not plan a great staycation without having to worry about putting extra wear and tear on your car? They have a ton of neighborhood locations to make pickup and drop off as easy as possible! Be sure to check out the Enterprise website since they have a bunch of great deals for summer. Are you planning any summer trips? I would love to hear about it in the comments section!

I love staycations! I’m really wanting to visit one of the nearby state parks for a hiking/outdoors day getaway sometime soon. There are really so many fun things to do relatively close to where I live!

Staycations are always fun! I think it helps that I live in Savannah and there’s always something fun to do nearby. 🙂

I just have a trip to Illinois planned in August. It would be great to have a staycation or two before then!

Staycations are great! However I do try to take my kids out once a summer on a mini vacation. With work and all it is a juggle yet we do it and the memories last forever! Take a look at my ideas what to do with bored kids- http://www.amomandajob.com, let me know what you think!
