I am all about turning you into a morning person this week! A good morning routine can completely transform your life, so I am here to get you on the right track. If you missed my first post: How to Become a Morning Person, now would be a good time to check it out.
Today we are talking about creating a morning routine you love, so you will WANT to wake up earlier. The perfect morning can set you up for a fantastic day, help you reach your goals and give you a happier and healthier mindset.
No one wakes up 2 hours early to sit on the couch and watch TV. This time is to help you make the most of your day. I am going to share my morning routine, with the hopes that it will inspire you to find one that works for you.
My Morning Routine:
Wake up at 5am: My kids normally wake up between 6:30am and 7am, so this gives me at least an hour and a half to myself.
Workout: Every other day, I start the day with a workout. I hop on my elliptical for 15-20 minutes and follow up with some light weights and abs.
Shower: I always finish with a COLD rinse, which I highly recommend.
Meditate & Reflections: As I’ve mentioned before, I love the Simple Habit app, but there are tons of great mediation apps out there. I also read my daily devotional and/or write out my daily affirmations/goals.
Breakfast & Coffee: I LOVE eating breakfast in silence.
On most days, I am able to get all of the above done. Sometimes the kids wake up early and that’s okay, too. It is important to find a morning routine that works for you! You can customize your routine to work for you, but there are a few things I think all good morning routines entail.
Morning Routine Suggestions
Workout: Working out in the morning can give you benefits that last all day long! Exercising in the morning puts me in a great mood and gives me more energy throughout the day.
Reflection: Meditation, journaling, reading the Bible… whatever it is, taking some time in the morning to reflect and grow is a wonderful way to nurture yourself before your busy day!
Goal Setting: I do this the night before, but the morning is a perfect time to set up your daily to-do list or goals for the week.
Enjoy a Hobby: Use this time to do something you love. Read, paint or take up a totally new hobby! You will feel more fulfilled by taking this time for you.
When you wake up early and have a morning routine that you love, you feel like you get a chunk of “Me Time” every single day! I truly think that most moms today have made it a habit to put themselves last. Once you have a good routine, you will begin to cherish this time for yourself. You will start your day happier and just feel better overall!
I am not a morning person at all but I do think that having a routine would help so much! I think I need to think through what exactly I could do in the morning to help me enjoy it a little more.
The time to myself is totally worth it for me. Just think about things you wish you could do and maybe those things can be worked into your morning routine. 🙂 have a great weekend!
YES! To Breakfast and coffee! I actually just finished setting up my coffee and tea bar. Excited to have a nice space to enjoy my morning cup!
Goal setting is also incredibly important. This was a great post. Thanks for sharing!
At first I was thinking “Where are the pictures!? But then I realized how nice and clean it looks without unnecesary pictures! “inspired”
I’m so not a morning person but this morning I said to myself that I’ll change that. This post came in handy as I am planning on setting up a routine that I can actually make work. Gotta work on getting up earlier !!
I really need to get into a routine for my mornings.
I definitely need to start something like this!
Great ways to start the day. I especially love the goal setting, keeps me focused and on track for the day.
I’ve been trying for so long to get a morning routine going! Erasmus lifestyle has totally messed with my progress!
That sounds like a great morning routine. Good that you take some time for yourself before you put on your “Mom” cape. And I agree that exercising in the morning is great. Though I tend to have more stamina in the evening so I’m not sure which is better for me.
You’re right! Being a morning person is great, it seems like the best way to relax and start your day stress-free
I so wish I could work out in the morning! Such a great way to start the day!
I am struggling to wake up early. I guess it’s because I sleep late. Need to change my morning routine to have more peace and time for myself.
I loved be waking up before my kids too, it really helps to set the tone for your whole day 😊
This is so what I needed to hear today. I’ve been wanting to wake up every day at 6am (2 hours before my kids) but have been unsuccessful. I just need to do it and I know I would be so much more productive.
