What’s in my Weekend Mom Bag

What's in my weekend mom bag

I love living in South Florida since, thanks to the weather, we are usually out and about every weekend. Lots of times we don’t have a set plan, and occasionally that means we end up being out all day. We’ll head to a park, but find a outdoor festival on the way, run into friends, go grab dinner… you get the idea. When I leave the house, my husband and I like to pack a lot, so we don’t have to go  back home if we don’t want to. My friends always comment how I am handy to have around since I have everything in my purse… so I thought I would share some of what I regularly stuff into my weekend mom bag.

Kelly Moore Bag

Toddler underwear: My daughter recently turned 3 and I have toddler underwear everywhere. My purse, my car… accidents happen and I am always prepared. I also keep a portable toddler potty in the trunk of my car, if she really has to go, I just pull over and she can squat right there. It comes in handy at parks, too.

Lollipops: Judge me if you will, but nothing solves a problem quicker than a lollipop when it comes to my kids. I use them as rewards, bribes, snacks… I never leave home without them.

Books: I always keep a book in my bag that each child will like for times they need a bit of amusement. (Waiting for a table at a restaurant, etc.) I rotate them out, so they are always excited to see the book. For awhile I was keeping a notepad and crayons, but I found the books were easier to tote around and usually worked better anyway.

Snacks: Need I say more?

Mini Water Bottles: I love those teeny water bottles at the store since I can toss two in my bag and they aren’t heavy. Then I just keep refilling them throughout the day.

Toys: A few matchbox cars and cheap fast-food toys are always good to have around.

Mini First Aid Kit: I don’t go crazy with this stuff, but I do keep anti-bacterial gel and bandaids on hand.

Wet Wipes: I always have a ziplock bag with some kind of wet wipe or baby wipe in them. I use them ALL the time and it is probably the most popular item when we are out with a bunch of people.

Sunscreen: I keep the solid sunscreen sticks in my bag and it always comes in handy when we go to parks that don’t have a lot of shady spots. This way I can leave it in my bag and I don’t have to worry about it leaking everywhere.

Bring on the fun!

The key to always being prepared is to have the perfect bag! The larger the tote, the better in my book! When Kelly Moore bags reached out to me I was super excited! A quick look online and I was in love. The bags were simple, beautifully made and the one I ordered was the perfect size. I got the Oxford and I love everything about it. First, it is vegan. Made with CAMBRIO, a material exclusive to Kelly Moore, it is abrasion and water-resistant and it looks and feels just like beautiful leather! This bag has tons of pockets and came with a divider system that I am obsessed with.  I also love that it came with two handle options, so I can wear this as a messenger bag or on my shoulder.

Kelly Moore is a photographer turned bag designer. She felt there was no stylish options out there, that were also functional to hold her camera and equipment. She cares deeply about every bag she creates and ships out. (she even sent me a hand written note with my bag, how cool is that?)

This would also make an awesome diaper bag for moms who don’t want that typical diaper bag “look.” (I wish I would have found this when my kids were babies!) I have already gotten so much use out of this bag and I know it will be a weekend staple for me. Now I am ready for any adventure with the kids! Be sure to check out Kelly Moore’s website and Facebook page! What are some of your mom bag must-haves?

This bag is gorgeous! I so want one. And your bag strategy is impeccable. I’m already formulating what I will start carrying with me in my weekend bag. Which at this point is non existent, just basically some diapers and wipes thrown into a shopping back. But inevitably my son always wants water or snacks or toys. My daughter just needs something to chew on, which makes us under pack. I’m so inspired by your post!

What a great list of items! I am always known to be prepared as well but I like a small bag (and I have older kids) so I tend to pack my car instead.

My bag is always so full that it looks like a complete and utter disaster. Cloth diapers and snacks take up ALL the space. It’s all about having a great bag though, because it can handle all that. Love this.

I’m compressed with everything you have on hand! I need to do a better job about keeping a mini first aid kit, but toddler underwear definitely ends up everywhere. (My favorite is when I pulled it out of a pocket of a jacket!) That bag looks awesome, definitely something I would have used instead of a diaper bag.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one drinking and refilling those tiny water bottles, haha!! This bag is amaaaazing. I’m a geeky photog so I’m always looking for padded bags… I use the OMG by Lo and Songs but honestly this looks better. You so stylish!

I have toddler underwear everywhere too! I thought when I ditched the diaper bag, I’d get a small purse…. but where would I put all that underwear! So I have a big ol’ mom bag, and I love it 🙂

This is why I can’t have a cute, small purse anymore. Haha! Good thing there are nice options for big Mommy bags! I love that insert too. That would come in handy! The thing about giant purses is having to dig through everything just to find gum or whatever.

I’m obsessed with this bag! I love the details and that organizer is amazing. I’m always the prepared one with everything in my bag but it tends to be messy and I’m always digging! Thanks for sharing this! I’m definitely ordering one for myself.

Great idea to have a diaper/mom bag & purse all-in-one, that way you’re not carrying multiple bags! This particular one is super classy and you could wear it anywhere.
