Books My Kids are Loving in January

ย Working Mom Magic

New Year, new books! We fell off the reading bandwagon in December… but now we are back into our regular routines, which means bedtime books. We have found a few new ones that the kids love, and some old favorites that just never seem to go out of style! Here are the books my kids are loving this month! (this post contains affiliate links)

We love books. And looking cute.

Hudson:
A Boy and a Jaguar

Hudson borrowed this from his school library and he told me it was one of his favorite books, so I asked him to read it to me. It is about a little boy who stutters and while he can’t communicate well with adults or his peers, he has no problem speaking freely to animals. He promises the animals to help them one day, since they are always there for him. It is a beautiful, true story and Hudson said one of the reasons he like the book so much, was because it was real. I won’t give the book away, but it’s good one!

Minecraft: The Complete Handbook Collection

I know we have talked about these books before, but Hudson recently joined ‘worlds’ with his cousins, so the Minecraft obsession is back. He has been constantly checking these books for tips and tricks. (especially when it comes to building and battling) He recently got ‘lost’ and thought his home was gone forever. I even took to twitter for some help (since twitter knows all) but in the end it was Google and a little patience that help my sweet boy find his Minecraft home.

Mila:
Doc McStuffins Peaches Pie, Take a Bath!
This is one of Mila’s favorite episodes of Doc McStuffins. She has a little cabbage patch doll that looks similar to Peaches Pie and actually smells good, too. (not like peaches, but still) She loves to pretend her Peaches Pie smells like dog and needs a bath, just like the episode. She got another cabbage patch for Christmas and immediately named her Peaches Pie as well. When I saw this book I knew Mila would love it, and I was right.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

Mila loves this book right now since she has it memorized… so she likes to ‘read’ it.ย  Hudson really enjoyed this book when he was younger, it is a total classic. I thought I was sick of this book, but it is fun watching her sit and recite it to her big brother, who is VERY impressed with her extremely young literacy skills! (I’m like, “Hudson, she has it memorized… I promise she can’t read yet!”)

Those are the books my kids are currently reading on repeat. What stories are your kids into right now? I am on the hunt for some good Ninja books for Hudson… so if you can think of any please let me know! We are planning a library trip this weekend to scope some out.

Caleb LOVES Brown Bear, Brown Bear and he reads it to Cohen almost every day. Well, he flips the pages and makes the animal sounds for Cohen. It's so cute. What a fun list of books. No surprise Minecraft is on there!

I hadn't heard of A Boy and a Jaguar. It sounds like an interesting book! One of our sons has difficulty being understood at times and he wants to be an "animal doctor" at a zoo some day. : 0 )

I'm pretty sure Brown Bear will never get old! That was one of the first books our firstborn loved, and now he has the whole thing memorized. Now our second son loves reading it. It's the only book he will sit still for!
