More ME in 2016

More ME in 216

I love making resolutions and setting goals. I have big plans for 2016 and I can’t wait to get started. In fact, I kicked off my goals for the new year in December. (why wait?) I have decided to set a goal of more ME in 2016.

Don’t get me wrong, I also have set goals to be a better mother, wife and friend… but I feel like I spent most of 2015 focusing on everything and everyone else but me. And it shows. I’ve gained a few pounds, I am always exhausted and I just haven’t been taking the time to do things that I enjoy. No one is to blame but myself. My husband is super supportive and always willing to take the kids to give me some time. When I do get time alone, I always feel like I should be doing something productive. Laundry, errands, cleaning… you get it. Since I spend so much time during the week at work, I feel horribly guilty using any of my down on JUST me.

But that stops NOW.

My monthly goals will now include set time for myself. I want to try new things, plan date nights with my husband, have fun with friends, enjoy activities with my kids that are not only fun for them.. but for ME too.

You may have seen my tweet this past week after I met a good friend to workout. Something we used to do on the weekends together all the time. Something that got lost in the shuffle of 2015.

That is part of my more ME in 2016… trying at least one new type of workout a month. I am planning on sharing my exercise excursions with you here on the blog. It will help keep me accountable, and maybe introduce you to a new workout you have been thinking about trying.

I also really want to get back into reading. It is something I have always loved and these days it is always at the very bottom of my to-do list… meaning I rarely get time to read. I am going to kick off a reading challenge for the year. My goal: read 2 new books each month. I am super excited about this one and I will have much more on it in a separate blog post later this week!As you start to plan our your resolutions for the new year… I encourage you to think about a few selfish ones you can make for yourself. I would love for you to comment with one resolution that is completely for YOU! #moreMEin2016

LOVE this, so important to find me time and something I was speaking to my husband about. It doesn't exist for me either – meaning LESS blog.

I need to take time for me. I feel like because the boys are young that they are the only people I'm allowed to care about. So in 2016 I want to focus more on Joel, more on me, abc more on Joel and me. Make sense? I love this.

Your youngest is still so little… which does make it harder. I think focusing on your hubby is a great one too!

I need more me time as well! Whenever I get a break, or even have a day that I don't necessarily have to do very much, I always ended up blogging. Which I need to stop. I need to realize it's good, normal and healthy just to do something besides work for once. Maybe 2016 will Be the year ๐Ÿ˜‰

What a fabulous goal!! I have similar plans for 2016 ๐Ÿ™‚ It seems like we mothers tend to put ourselves dead last at every turn…even though we know in the long run it's better for our families if we are happy! So silly on our part. I wish you all the beat on your new journey and look forward to seeing the updates!

Thank you so much for the inspiration! I have two young boys (2.5 and 10 months) and have very much lost ME over the years. I will keep this in mind when I set down to set goals for 2016! Happy Holidays!
