I love making resolutions and setting goals. I have big plans for 2016 and I can’t wait to get started. In fact, I kicked off my goals for the new year in December. (why wait?) I have decided to set a goal of more ME in 2016.
Don’t get me wrong, I also have set goals to be a better mother, wife and friend… but I feel like I spent most of 2015 focusing on everything and everyone else but me. And it shows. I’ve gained a few pounds, I am always exhausted and I just haven’t been taking the time to do things that I enjoy. No one is to blame but myself. My husband is super supportive and always willing to take the kids to give me some time. When I do get time alone, I always feel like I should be doing something productive. Laundry, errands, cleaning… you get it. Since I spend so much time during the week at work, I feel horribly guilty using any of my down on JUST me.
My monthly goals will now include set time for myself. I want to try new things, plan date nights with my husband, have fun with friends, enjoy activities with my kids that are not only fun for them.. but for ME too.
You may have seen my tweet this past week after I met a good friend to workout. Something we used to do on the weekends together all the time. Something that got lost in the shuffle of 2015.

That is part of my more ME in 2016… trying at least one new type of workout a month. I am planning on sharing my exercise excursions with you here on the blog. It will help keep me accountable, and maybe introduce you to a new workout you have been thinking about trying.
LOVE this, so important to find me time and something I was speaking to my husband about. It doesn't exist for me either – meaning LESS blog.
I just really need to change my entire mindset.. I dont even CONSIDER myself or what I want… ever.
I have just been thinking about this very thing – my friend has a YMCA membership and I've been thinking of joining too so we can take classes together ๐
That sounds like a great idea!! A workout with friends is so uplifting.. you knock out girl time and working out in one shot! ๐
I love that you're doing this! I need to realize doing things for myself is indeed OK!
Why is it so hard for us to do that? I am really working on changing my thinking!! ๐
Love it! Taking time for yourself is so important mama…I need to do the same and set some big goals!
Yes.. I just dont do it enough, so I have to force myself! ha!
I feel you! I'm always last on my list of people to take care of. I need to jump on board with you!
Yes! I hope you do! At least we are thinking about it now… that is a start for me!
I love this! I really struggle with taking time for myself… especially with all of our little ones. Such a great goal lady!
It is a little harder for you, since your babies are so young.. I am getting a bit more breathing room these days.. ha!
I need to take time for me. I feel like because the boys are young that they are the only people I'm allowed to care about. So in 2016 I want to focus more on Joel, more on me, abc more on Joel and me. Make sense? I love this.
Your youngest is still so little… which does make it harder. I think focusing on your hubby is a great one too!
Good fro you!! Your whole family will be getting a gift because the better you feel, the better your whole attitude will be around them too. It's a win win!
Yes I have been a bit snarkly lately.. haha! I need ME time!
I want to get back into reading too! I just don't have the time. ๐ I am one a mission to do a half marathon and I also want to plan more date nights with the hubs. Setting goals holds us accountable. Way to go!
It is hard.. but I at least want to put it out there to TRY. Just thinking about it will be a start.. ha!
Love love love this! My new year's resolution is to drink more water and to change my old pattern of negative thinking (which is doing to be dang hard!) Cheers!
Negative thinking is a hard one.. I am always working on that as well. ๐
I need more me time as well! Whenever I get a break, or even have a day that I don't necessarily have to do very much, I always ended up blogging. Which I need to stop. I need to realize it's good, normal and healthy just to do something besides work for once. Maybe 2016 will Be the year ๐
Yes, we all need a break sometimes!
Absolutely love this resolution…and it's so important! And I can absolutely relate! 2015 was very family focused for me and I'm excited to put some of the focus back on me for 2016 ๐
Yes you have been so busy with family stuff… You need some time for yourself. And cupcakes. You need cupcakes.
ME time is so important, and I"m glad you'll be doing more of YOU! You really launched your blog to the net level this past year and you have loads to be thankful for!! Thanks for the inspiration!
I am not good at resolutions but, do want to focus on setting time to take care of me, get outdoors & walk/exercise more. Ya, to me time!! I know I couldn't walk after a class like that lol. Congrats for getting yourself there!!
I definitely need to work on myself a bit more next year. I've always wanted to take a barre class-sounds so funn
What a fabulous goal!! I have similar plans for 2016 ๐ It seems like we mothers tend to put ourselves dead last at every turn…even though we know in the long run it's better for our families if we are happy! So silly on our part. I wish you all the beat on your new journey and look forward to seeing the updates!
Thank you for sharing with us at #mommymeetupmondays!
More ME in 2016 IS the way to be a better wife, mother, and friend. I've started on the same resolution now and I've noticed it is making a huge difference. I'm going to start using your hashtag. We should try get the ball rolling on a group of us putting our own wellness first.
super important. good luck. it's hard when "life" takes over. like it has for me this month! sheese!
Thank you so much for the inspiration! I have two young boys (2.5 and 10 months) and have very much lost ME over the years. I will keep this in mind when I set down to set goals for 2016! Happy Holidays!
