Family Favorites for September

September flew by! Our #SeptemberScopers challenge was a success (bring on #OctoberScopers!), we got away for Labor Day weekend, my news station had extension coverage of the Pope’s visit to the United States & Cuba, I celebrated my birthday and met a billionaire!

Here’s what my family is currently LOVING:

Lauren:
Smartphone Tripod Mount

I am going to sound like a TOTAL dork here, but since I have been Periscoping all month… my favorite and most used item BY FAR is the $2 tripod mount I bought that allows me to use my phone with the tripods I already have. I had two tripods since we have a DLSR camera, but I couldn’t attach my iPhone to them. This little thing is awesome. I love it so much and if you are Periscope obsessed like me you need to get one. (I also really like this little bendy tripod, too)

We have had a number of things break in our home recently. My husband is not instinctively the best handyman out there, however… he is very resourceful and he can figure out how to fix almost ANYTHING with some help from YouTube. He fixed our pool pump, changed out a toilet bowl valve, fixed our air conditioner.. I could go on and on. My husband rocks.

Hudson:
Light Up Ball
We had a $5 gift card for Ron Jon Surf shop so we let our son pick out a little toy, and this is what he selected. It now goes with him EVERYWHERE. He wraps that bad boy around his wrist and plays catch, lassos his sister and even uses it to throw ‘dance parties’ in the dark bathroom (complete with Mila singing at the top of her lungs). It is a very simple (but cool) toy, and I can’t believe he plays with it as much as he does.

He is obsessed with this thing!!

LeapFrog Word Whammer
I mentioned this before, but I am so excited to be a Leap Frog Mom ambassador. We love Leap Frog in our house and this month they sent me a ton a awesome products to try. I wrote about the Leap Pad Platinum earlier in the month. Now you guys know that free or sponsored products normally DO NOT make it onto my monthly Family Favorites. However, Mila has been playing with this little toy SO much… I had to include it! (even though it was sent to us for free) At 2 and 1/2 she is technically too young for this game, but she loves it anyway. You twist and tap the handle to create words and sounds. She will keep trying until she gets it right, and I love that she is being exposed to phonics at such a young age thanks to this fun toy!

Bonus like: PERISCOPE! With September Scopers kicking off the Periscope obsession has swept through my house! While I may have the strongest addiction… the rest of the family has joined in! My sweet husband watches every single scope I do, usually live… and then the replay, too. He gives me a gazillion hearts even though I told him only 500 count at any one time. I love that he is supporting me through this challenge, and it is always nice to know that he is watching. 🙂 Hudson has been featured in a few scopes and he especially loves our zip line one. Every time Mila sees me watching, she asks if she can “give hearts” and she was also in one of my scopes. (where she got super excited to see purple hearts!)
