Books my Kids are Loving in September

My son went back to school and it has helped to get our reading at home back on track! Since I am more strict with getting the kids to bed on time, we keep the TV off. So when the kids start saying they are BORED… we grab a few books and read them together.

I finally went back to the library recently and found some books that the kids really loved. So here is our list for this month!

Hudson:
All That Pikachu:
This is a collection of Pokemon comics and I can’t even understand half of what it says. Apparently, I don’t speak Pikachu… but my son does! He loves this little book and reads it all the time. It is a comic, so the actual “reading” part isn’t much, but I think that is okay since I just want my son to enjoy his books… and I think fun comics like this helps foster a greater love of reading that will stick around. (hopefully) He was so Pokemon obsessed this month that I made him a little shrink-e-dink key chain by tracing his favorite little figure to put on his backpack! It turned out so cute, don’t ya think?

If I Had a Triceratops:
This is a cute little book that makes both kids laugh. (and there are a few parts that made me chuckle as well) We all talk about what it would be like if we had a dino-sized pet and all the silly things we could do with it.

Mila:
Princess Super Kitty:
Mila loves pretending she is both a princess… and a kitty, so when I saw this book I knew she would love it. It is about a little girl who is pretending to be a kitten, but then expands her role as needed to get through her day. It is a very sweet book, and I definitely recommend checking it out.

The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog:
Another awesome Mo Williams book! Mila LOVES hot dogs so she thought this book was hilarious. (& it usually ended with her saying, “Will you make me a hot dog??”) My kids love this entire series and it was fun to find this one, since we had never read it.

Mila was in mid “Meow” for the top picture

Are there any good books your kids are currently loving? We are always looking for new ones, and these books are due back!

I think my kids would love If I Had a Triceratops. They love going to the "dinosaur museum" so this book fits perfectly with that!

My 11-year-old daughter loves the Warrior series and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. My 5-year-old daughter has become a huge Star Wars fan like her mom and wants to keep reading the new Star Wars Little Golden Books and the Early Reader Clone Wars books. I like these a lot better than the Dora and SpongeBob books.:-)

How have I not heard of any of these? I am out of the loop. I've got an 8 year old that would love your son's (and probably your daughter's) picks.

My kids love The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak. Overall any book I'm willing to read is a hit with them, and my 4 year old loves books about Caterpillars (The Crunching Munching Caterpillar is currently an everyday read)
