Why Everyone Needs an Activity Tracker

I always said I would never get an activity tracker. Many years ago, I had a pedometer and I didn’t feel the need to get a high-tech version. So when the makers of the Striiv Fusion contacted me, I was hesitant. But then I got real with myself, I have been in a serious fitness slump lately, so I thought maybe this was the boost I needed.

My Striiv Fusion came ready to go with the device, 3 wristbands and a charger. All I had to do was plug it for 90 minutes, download the app and I was off and running. (well… off and walking…) Easy as can be.

Love it!!

Now that I have been using it for a few weeks, I really wish I had gotten one sooner. Here are 3 reasons why I think everyone needs and activity tracker.

1. You will walk more. If you would have asked me a few weeks ago how many steps I took each day I would have confidently said easily over 10-thousand. Well… I have YET to hit that amount. I average between 22 and 25-hundred steps each day. The first few days I didn’t even break 2-thousand. I was shocked. I haven’t been working out, so I can kind of understand it… but still! I have made a number of changes in my daily life to make sure I am moving a bit more. I select parking spots that are far away. I get up and walk around a few times a day. I take the “long way” more often. I like how the Fusion makes it so easy for me to see my progress, since I just double tap the screen and swipe left to see my steps.

Parked past the gates? Good, extra steps for me!

2. It’s fun. I am now in with the ‘activity tracker’ crowd. Co-workers have come up asking my about my Striiv Fusion, since it is fancy with a touchscreen. We talk about how many steps we have walked and how to fit more steps into our day. I can also connect with friends who also have a Striiv. I connected with a fellow blogger and friend of mine, Phyllis (who blogs over at A Verified Mom) & we can compare steps. It is fun to see who is ahead of who as the day goes on. There is also a game on the Stiiv app called ‘My Land’ and it is so much fun to play! You collect money, build houses, and plant things… and more steps mean more perks!

I obviously selected a screen shot that showed me with more steps, however Phyllis kicks my butt most days. But this is my blog so I get to be the hero here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. You pay more attention to what you eat. Now that I am seeing how LITTLE I walk, I have been a little more careful about what I eat. I have been snacking less and trying to drink more water.

I am so glad I finally jumped on the activity tracker bandwagon! I am obsessed. In addition to tracking my steps, the Striiv Fusion does so much more. I love all the features! It shows me the time & date, my steps, the distance traveled and how many calories I have burned. It also tracks your sleep, but I am already a light enough sleeper so I didn’t want to wear something on my wrist.

How my progress looks on the app.

My very favorite feature is that I can get texts right on my device! It is the coolest thing ever! It is connected through my phone’s bluetooth, so when someone texts me my wrist vibrates and I can scroll through and read the text right there! It is really awesome when I am driving since it is much easier to see who is texting me by just glancing down at my wrist. I don’t have to reach for my phone or push any buttons.
SO cool! I love getting my texts on my wrist!

So if you have been thinking about getting an activity tracker, go for it! And just in time for Mother’s Day Striiv is offering an awesome deal…  20% off a Striiv Fusion with the code: MOM2015. It is only good through May 11th, so if you want one, you need to jump on this deal. I really regret waiting for so long.

Disclosure: I was given a Striiv Fusion for free to facilitate my review, however all opinions are entirely my own.

This looks like an awesome activity tracker and I completely agree that you move more with them! My parents did a walking challenge at work and because my dad was trying to win he ended walking around 100,000 steps a week…and he only ended up getting like 3rd place in their whole company!

That is crazy! Yeah.. my walking totals are pretty lame… the one day I thought I may have been able to come close, I forgot the band on the charger at home! lol

I've never heard of this tracker before! But it looks awesome! I have a Garmin watch that I use when running and I have a Fitbit. My Fitbit turned me into a crazy lady when I first got it haha, I was lapping my house trying to make sure I got at least 10k step per day! Trackers definitely help keep you accountable!

What a neat little gadget! I have tried a few tracking apps on my phone, but it's always so much of a hassle that I give up after a few days. This is definitely something worth checking into!

I love this idea! I've got a pedometer that adds up my steps over the day and I've found it really helpful before. I haven't used it for a while, but you've just reminded me what a great idea this sort of activity tracking is – thanks!

I love activity trackers because they "tell you how it really is". I have walked so much more now that I have my Fitbit and love that I can sync with my friends and family and "cheer each other on".
