I met up with one of my college roomies this past week. She is a creative, smart, original, hipster… so obviously she had me meet her at a place that has been dubbed the ‘craft beer hangout’, also known as the Riverside Market.
I had never been there, since I am very un-cool… oh yeah.. and I love wine. But beer is fun too… I don’t discriminate, especially when it comes to alcoholic beverages.
I got there first, and the waitress came over to me and explained how it all worked. They take food orders, and for beer you just walk up to the coolers and pick what you want. When you are ready to leave, you take your food receipt and your empty bottles to the front and they check you out.
I looked over at the ROWS and ROWS of beers, and quickly decided to wait for my friend. When it comes to specialty or craft beers, I am a ‘need a menu’ kind of girl. Tell me the order from light to dark, which ones are flavored, etc. There was no direction or guidance. (Although, the servers were super sweet and I’m sure they would have helped me out)
Soon my friend rescued me, showing up and navigating me through the beers. She found one for me that I loved. We also split some delicious hummus and one seriously AMAZING pizza. They even had a two extremely talented singers belting out a few songs.
I had a great time with my girl, we laughed and caught up on each other’s crazy lives. If you are in South Florida and looking for a fun place to go that will remind you of those cool spots you used to go to in college, try out Riverside Market! Even I felt like a hipster, if only for a few hours!
That sounds like the perfect night out! If I am ever in South Florida I will be sure to try it.
It was fun! (not too shabby for a Wednesday night, if I do say so myself!) 😉
