I got such a beautiful surprise in the mail, I wanted to share it! A dear friend of mine is getting married and she asked me to be her bridesmaid! I came home to a package with a little box inside. I had so much fun following the directions and getting a little gift along with a thoughtful card explaining what my friendship means to her.
I have been a bridesmaid a time or two (ok 4.. FOUR other times, so this makes 5) and I can honestly say this is the most creative way anyone has ever asked me. Since this isn’t my first rodeo… I thought I would share a few things every bridesmaid should be prepared for:
-
Your friend is going to have a psycho bridezilla moment. It may not be at the wedding, it may be at the bridal shower, or a break down over the phone about place cards… but trust me… it’s coming.
-
You will have to do/wear something you don’t really like. Between the dress, shoes, makeup artist, and the way she wants you to wear your hair… there is bound to be something you aren’t crazy about. Just keep your mouth shut, it’s not about you. (its just easiest this way, trust me. I have seen a wedding day go downhill quickly over an argument over who did or didn’t want to wear their hair up)
-
At least one person in the bridal party will have way too much to drink, just make sure that person isn’t you. (that video will haunt you for years to come)
-
Check in with the bride during the reception. Once the actual wedding is over, it is time to party, but you are still there to help your friend. So check in on her, does she need anything? Does she look like she needs to eat, or have some water? Did someone make sure her wedding night suite is decorated? Are there items that need to be collected after the reception is over? Help your bride out.. those other beotches, um, I mean, bridesmaids… are too drunk. (but at least you have the pictures, should you need them later)
Being a bridesmaid can definitely be a pain. (There I said it) Bit it can also be A LOT of fun! So if you agree to be a bridesmaid, enjoy it. It should be a fun experience and can even be considered a honor since someone thinks you are special enough to play a major role in a very important day in their lives. Cheers!
