This is what my garage usually looks like when I come home from work. There are bikes, scooters, skateboards, and push cars. (Most are ours, but others belong to the neighborhood kids… Who often leave stuff behind) There are toys, a shovel, and today’s most random item… A coconut. (The item that resembles a basketball near the shovel)
While most people would dread coming home to this mess, I love it. I smile when I pull up after a long day at work and see the evidence of my kids fun-filled day after school. I love seeing the chalk covered driveway, with drawings of flowers and Angry Birds. I love picking up rainbow loom bands left behind after our next door neighbors made Hudson yet another custom creation. I love knowing that just a few hours earlier, this garage was filled with imagination and laughter from the little boys and girls that live on our street. It reminds me how lucky I am to have such an amazing sitter who encourages this crazy atmosphere day after day.
I wish I could have been home to enjoy it myself, but for now I’m thankful I get to walk in that door where my sweet son is waiting to give me a play-by-play.
