It’s no secret that once you become a parent, the constant barrage of birthday party invites begin. And while most moms and dads may find this annoying, I love it. I take Crazy H. to every party we are able to attend. Here’s my reasoning… I am ALWAYS looking for things to do with my son during the weekends. A birthday party is the best free entertainment you can get for a kid. They get to play with their friends, (or make new friends in their age group) there is always some sort of activity or event, and you get food and the ever popular birthday cake. Also, it’s usually the only time I get to see my friends since we all had kids (and you KNOW this is true, girls night has turned into baby showers and kid parties) So this weekend, I hit the jackpot, back to back party Sunday! At 11am, we had a 1st birthday party, followed by a 5th birthday at 2pm.
Life’s a (kids) party
The first party was at Miramar Regional Park. I’ve never been there, but it was great! They had a pavilion, with 2 bounce houses… and since it was right next to the playground they kids had access to that as well. It was a Mickey Mouse theme, with a hot dog food truck! (hot dog, hot dog… hot-diggety dog! Parents you should know what I am referring to here…) I have never been to a party that had a food truck and it was such a great idea! Not sure how much it cost them, but it way more creative than the pizza and chips and dip I normally serve!
The next party was at my friend’s home, and she has a huge backyard complete with farm animals. (not rented… they actually have a little farm in their backyard) They DID rent a bounce house, and it never fails to amaze me how long kids will jump around in those things. After more delish food (from Vignettos, a local Italian place, very good!!) and more cake… its was 4:30 and we were heading back home after a fun-filled (and FREE) day!
