The Best Broccoli Pizza (& a Giveway!)

We love pizza. Like, a lot. We have a family tradition of ordering pizza almost every Friday night. However, we have been trying to save money, which means ordering in less. We have recently starting making our own pizzas and it has turned into a fun family activity even the kids can get involved in!

Hudson & Mila LOVE making their own pizza and since we are in control of all the ingredients and portions, I do feel like it is a bit healthier for all of us! (& I have found they are more excited to eat food that they actually helped to create!)

Now if you guys follow me on social media you know that I LOVE Publix. I am obsessed with their BoGo’s and coupon app. Right now their Publix Viva Italia Days Sale is underway, which means you can save even more money on family food staples. (think pasta, sauce, pizza dough, frozen veggies… all the good stuff!)

They even have a ton of recipes online and at the store (along with some awesome coupons to stack with the savings!) and I was really inspired by the Tuscan Broccoli Pizza, so I decided to create my own version. I love veggies on my pizza, so this looked delish to me.

I decided to use regular broccoli, instead of the Tuscan flavored since my daughter is going through a big broccoli stage. So I got the Green Giant plain broccoli steamers and gave her half in a bowl and used the rest for my pizza.

You will need:

  • 1 can Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Dough
  • 1 can Hunt’s® No Salt Added tomato sauce (I mixed in a teaspoon of minced garlic)
  • 1 box Green Giant™ Broccoli Steamers
  • Sun-Dried tomatoes in Olive Oil
  • Progresso™ Italian Bread Crumbs
  • Publix shredded mozzarella
1. Preheat oven to 400, spray cookie sheet with olive oil spray.
2. Roll out pizza dough and bake (plain) for 6-8 minutes. (until it starts getting very light golden brown)
3. Prepare the broccoli as directed on the box, drain and pat dry.
4. Top pizza crust with sauce, broccoli, tomatoes and cheese. I also like to sprinkle on a bunch of the Italian bread crumbs on top before the cheese. It’s just good, trust me.
5. Bake 8-10 minutes or until the crust is a deep golden brown
6. Cut & serve

This pizza turned out SO GOOD! The Publix recipe also used mushrooms and no sauce, but I am a saucy girl. As far as the breadcrumbs, one of my favorite pizza places makes a mean cauliflower pizza and they do the breadcrumbs, too. I figured I would give it a try for this one and it was a winner! The next time you have pizza night at your house, be sure to give this pizza a try.

If you want more recipes, check out the #PublixVivaItaliaSale section online. You will also find tons of awesome coupons. These deals run through March 2nd, so head over to Publix! You know what is even better than a great deal… FREE! Just enter the Rafflecopter drawing below to be in the running for a $10 PayPal gift card!
