I love family traditions. Luckily for me, my husband has a huge family who loves them as well. This weekend we had our annual pumpkin carving party, which gets bigger and better every year! All you need is a pumpkin, and we take care of the rest!
I had Halloween clothes for everyone that I got at Wal-Mart. (when I got my Halloween decorations) I didn’t like any of the ladies shirts they had, so I just bought the same one I got for Donnie and I was SO excited that he actually wore it!
This year, we ordered food, since I didn’t want to be bothered cooking anything. We ordered from a local Italian place, and it was great. A platter of their chicken specialty, two pizzas, a giant house salad, cheesy bread, and garlic rolls! YUM! I had plenty to drink for the kids and adults. My dollar store Halloween cups and skull goblets were a big hit!
After everyone ate, it was pumpkin carving time! We have TONS of pumpkin carving tools and books. At this point, the adults end up carving all the kids pumpkins, since they lost interest after about 30 seconds. They just ran around in the backyard while we carved.
The pumpkins turned out awesome, my favorite one was the Storm Trooper pumpkin carved out by my sister-in-law’s sister, Hope. I made the one-eye monster guy. I got a late start, so I wanted something easy.
After pumpkins, it was time to decorate cupcakes. I also had a haunted gingerbread house to decorate, but at that point, I didn’t feel like bothering with it. The kids just used the extra decorations on the cupcakes. They came up with some pretty awesome cupcakes!
I had so much fun, and I hope everyone did as well. Next year, I will definitely have prizes for the best pumpkins. I will leave you with this amazing video of my husband scaring the kids.
Wow, those are amazing pumpkins! I have one pumpkin left so maybe I will download a stencil and try something fancy.
Yes you should! It looks crazy when you are cutting it out, but then when you put the candle in.. everyone is like, "OHHHHH…. I see it now!" Ha!
I should brought my nephews and nieces to your house, instead of going to the lame pumpkin patch. Looks like everyone had a great time.
Next year Talitha!! Thanks for stopping by! ๐
Your pumpkins are awesome! We went to a pumpkin carving party this year, and it was a lot of fun and great for a mixed age crowd. My husband actually won for "funniest" pumpkin, which I'm really excited about (still) because we never win stuff like this (I'm taking credit). Anyway, love it!
I need to have prizes, this year we kind of decided 'everyone' won.. but I bet prizes would help us choose a winner! Different categories is a good idea too!
You guys are pumpkin carving experts! Looks like a lot of fun!
We are pretty good, if I do say so myself… we started this tradition about 13 years ago.. before we even had kids! ๐
Looks like you all had a blast! Your pumpkins look amazing. Hope you have a great Halloween too! Theresa @DearCreatives
You too, I can't wait for Friday! Thanks for stopping by!

You should, it is so much fun for everyone there! The adults end up really getting into it!

Cool party Lauren. Those pumpkins are so impressive. I loved all the costumes and you t-shirt ๐ Big thumbs up!
Thank you! I even had skeleton earrings! ๐ I love Halloween! Have a great rest of the week!
Those pumpkins are awesome! I have zero pumpkin carving skill. I'm thankful for the kits you can buy. I would have to agree with you that my favorite is the storm trooper – super awesome! Love the shirts you and your husband are wearing too. You guys are so cute!
Thank you! It was a lot of fun! Have a great rest of the week! ๐
What a great idea and a way to get the family together!!!
Thank you! We always have a lot of fun with it, it gets bigger every year! Enjoy your week and Happy Halloween! ๐
What a fun idea! Plus you don't need as many decorations because your guests make them for you. I would love to try this when my son gets a little older. If you're ever looking for new and educational toddler or baby products, check out http://www.KiddoKorner.com. Let me know what you think.
