Kids grow up fast. Sometimes they grow up before parents have time to fully comprehend what is happening.
“What do you mean your shoes don’t fit? Didn’t we just get those?”
“But I thought you loved getting notes in your lunch from me?”
A few weeks back, I had one of THOSE mornings where everything was going wrong. In the midst of all of it, I realized my daughter had grown up just a tiny bit more while I wasn’t looking. Here’s what went down…
When I went to take my son to school, I quickly realized I had a flat tire. So I decided we would ride bikes to school and I would worry about my car afterward. Well, my bike also had a flat. (you can’t make this stuff up) After dragging my husband’s bike out, I realized I couldn’t get to the bike trailer for Mila. After cursing myself for not cleaning the garage the past weekend like my husband said we probably should… I told Mila she would just have to ride her own bike to my son’s school.
Now my the school isn’t crazy far, but it is a good ways for a 4-year-old. It was during this trip I realized that her current bike was way too small. She huffed and puffed on the tiny bike alllll the way to Hudson’s school. I commended her for being such a trooper then told her it was time to head home. I will never forget the look on her sweet, sweat-covered face when she exclaimed, “YOU MEAN WE HAVE TO RIDE BACK?!”

Mila rockin’ her new bike!
We (eventually) made it home where she took a break and cooled off while the guy from Triple-A told me he didn’t know how to get the spare tire off my car. (we learned together thanks to a little lesson from YouTube) When I finally got to work I was SHOCKED to get an email from my favorite crew over at Dynacraft telling me about their latest products for kids… which included a , a Walmart exclusive! I am really lucky to be a Dynacraft ambassador, which means I get the scoop on up-and-coming product launches and every few months they send me something new to try. It was a divine bloggervention! 😉
The bike was a breeze to put together and Mila loves it. It has a lot of fun details for young bikers to enjoy. First of all, Mila was most excited that it came with a little stuffed puppy. (does this surprise anyone?) The puppy fits perfectly into the bike basket so she always has a furry friend to ride with. It has a padded seat that is height adjustable, so I know she will be able to ride comfortably for a long time. A coaster brake provides smooth stopping power, while wide training wheels add stability. She loves her new bike and says it is so much easier for her to keep up with the rest of us now.
It can be tough as a parent realizing your baby is growing up, and I am a little embarrassed to admit that it took a flat tire fiasco for me to realize it! Choosing a was easy for us, and if you have a child that may need a new ride be sure to check out the complete line of Dynacraft products. This is available now at Walmart. Plus, if you are looking for some awesome games to help make your next family bike ride even more fun be sure to check out this post.
I recognize myself so much in this. I have just sold my daughters small bike now after it was to small last spring. She was so happy too to get a bigger one 😊
Oh wow, they really do grow up way too fast! But at least you’ve noticed it and now you can start paying more attention to her growing up hahahah Good luck with everything over there =)
haha!! I am the worst.. especially with my daughter since she is my second child. It was pretty sad seeing her huffing along on that tiny bike! lol
