My son was super independent. He never liked to be held for a long time, and he never snuggled when he was a baby. He also went through a stage where he only wanted my husband. He was a daddy’s boy. I remember crying, feeling like my baby didn’t love me. Now I realize how ridiculous it was to even think that. Hudson was just too busy for his own good, and all kids go through a phase when they prefer one parent over the other.
She’s obsessed with me and I’m obsessed with mommy-daughter selfies. 😉 |
I think one reason for her clingy-ness is there have been a lot of changes recently. She started daycare and she sleeps in her very own big girl bed now. On top of it all, her back molars are coming in. Put it all together and you have one very needy little munchkin. I feel for her. She is just a little thing, and I would imagine all these changes must be so difficult!
So right now, I am enjoying every single moment of my daughter’s obsession with me, since I know it will not last forever. I love that she is a snuggler. I love that she follows me all over the house and sits on the floor next to me as I get ready for work. I know now just how quick this moment is… since ‘phases’ like this don’t last long with little ones.

The selfies are adorable and your daughter will love to look back on them some day. So fun!
Lauren says
Thank you! After I drop my son off at school, we have about an hour and a half of 'alone' time with just the two of us… so we are always taking pictures. 😉
Theresa says
Soak it all in now! You need to remember those days when she's a pre-teen/teen. Trust me! lol I love my girl but, at almost 13 there are those days you need to lock yourself in a room, count to 10 and remember how adorable she was and will be after the hormones settle. I have to say most days we are besties unless she is having a really bad day. Cheers to mom / daughter bonding!
Lauren says
I know! My mom always told me I would regret how I acted when I had my own daughter.. ha!
Blooming In Bedlam says
Awwwww! She's like your little mini-me! SO Sweet!
Lauren says

The pictures of you and your daughter are adorable!
My husband and I jokingly call our toddler my stalker. She is a pretty cute stalker 🙂
Lauren says
That is a perfect way to explain it… STALKER! If I leave the room.. I hear.. Mom? Momma?? MOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!?? haha
Rabia Lieber says
My husband gets offended when the kids prefer me over him. I just want to smack him about it! Seriously, I'd love it if they yelled for him once in a while! LOL!!
Lauren says
I used to get so upset when my son wanted my husband over me. He would actually feel bad about it! Now he is like "She is all yours.. this is what you wanted… remember??" 😉 I hope you are having a wonderful week and thank you for stopping by!
Tarynn Playle says
So cute! My daughter had a similar phase. She still only wants me to put her to bed…I don't mind. Love the selfies!!
Lauren says
I have a selfie problem.. 😉 At least we can enjoy it… before they start slamming doors in our face!
Kristen Hewitt says
She is soooo cute and I love that stage too! Unfortunately mine is doing it as well- and doesn't like her new school. Makes it extra hard! Cherish these days right?!
Lauren says
Oh no… Yeah Mila took a REALLY long time to get used to daycare… it made her even more clingy!
Nicci says
Right now our little girl loves Daddy. Hopefully the pendulum swings back to me soon!
Lauren says
That's how my son was with my husband.. but he's a momma's boy now! 😉 She will come around!
Jennifer - The Deliberate Mom says
I love it when they go through that phase of complete and utter adoration of their mama! Soak it up… these are precious times.
Thanks for sharing (loved the pictures too)!
Wishing you a lovely day.

Awwww! Gotta love when they're going through the mommy phase 🙂 Our littlest is a total mommy's girl right now. Love this post – thanks for sharing!
Lauren says
Isnt it the sweetest? But I really want to try and video my morning.. and try to count the number of times she says "mommy" haha
Stacie says
Got to love the Mommy phase. They grow up so fast and start to become independent. My daughter likes to do things on her own at times. If not she would much rather have Daddy do it. I think it's because she is around me all the time. I don't know. She has him wrapped around her finger.
Lauren says
Yeah, I know it is a short lived phase, so I am trying to enjoy every moment! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping over! 😉
Ai LTM says
Aww, what a sweet reminder to savor these moments! Love that first pic of you two!

Lauren says
Yes!! I love it, esp since she is so sweet about it!! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Bev Feldman says
Aw, that is so sweet! I wish my daughter was more of a snuggler–right now she is way too wiggly.
Lauren says
yup, its different, since Hudson was NEVER a snuggler… but this little nugget wants to cuddle and snuggle all the time! (even when she was a tiny baby she was like that!)
Amanda says
Our daughter went through a mommy phase from about 2yrs to 4 yrs…she's just now coming out of it a little now that Daddy has introduced her to playing video games with him!
Lauren says
Oh yes, video games and TV beat out both of us in our house! ha!
Nicole McGregor says
or it could last a lot longer. my daughter is more attached to me now than ever. she's 8!!!!
Lauren says
Hahaha.. well that makes me happy!! Hopefully she will stop climbing in bed with me before then though.. 😉
Melissa Matters says
Too cute! My son is obsessed with me right now also! He wants me to hug him or carry him all day long.

Both my 4-year-old and my 2-year-old have gone through "mama" and "daddy" phases and like you said in a reply above, it used to bother us (He/She doesn't love me!) but now, we just hand the kid over and wish the other parent luck. It can be a hassle sometimes when your the only one a child wants but since it doesn't last long, we try to soak it up.
Thanks for linking up through the Shine Blog Hop!

That is our youngest @12 y/o!!!! She will go back and forth between us, we call her "Our lover child" Our oldest is and has always been independent. So with our other one at first we thought she was needy, nope just a huge hugger and loving kid who loves to be around us 🙂 Enjoy every moment. At this moment I have our #3 child the weenie in her bed on my desk next to the computer, and if she could actually climb on the computer she would…. Mama's girl and wants to be close….. Awesome, beautiful photographs….

SO SWEET!! I love your mother/daughter selfies 🙂
I remember those days, I'd love to have a clingy-mama-loving munchkin on my hip 🙂
Even though, my babies are little bit older now, they still have "Mommy" moments, where it's all about me, I eat those moments up!
XOXO

Adorable pictures! Is that a My Pretty Princess necklace? That takes me back…
My daughters are both clingy to me. I eat it up as well. Both of my arms get quite a work out holding them in my arms for long periods of times.

What a sweetheart! My toddler is usually running away from me at the moment, but I relish every hug, kiss and snuggle I can get. Even if it's only his way to effectively protest going into his crib, I'll buy it, take the kisses and let him stay up a bit longer!
